Every Saturday morning from 8.30 to 10.30 the Most Venerable Athuraliye Rathana thero conducts meditation both tranquility and insight to a crowd of about 50 lay people. The program begins with vandana, ( reciting of Buddhanussathi) traditional and ritualistic pail chanting with the observation of five percepts, and recollection of the virtue of the Buddha.
Every one participates in singing verses composed by Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero in recollection of the virtue of the Buddha and talking a determination to follow the Buddha's footsteps in sacrificing for others in loving kindness.
Guided anapanasathi – meditation of breathing follows, for about 15 minutes. Thereafter sathipattana pali text is distributed in handouts and after chanting passages of the text the meaning is elucidated. It leads to a discourse of one hours and question time, where everyone participates in raising questions about the practices in everyday life. Main theme is stress reduction and enjoying life's pleasures by overcoming anger and forgiving the world.

The Dhamma Discussion is held focusing development of mental culture. Sathipattana Sutta which is considered to be the original Buddha's word is used as a guide of chanting and ritual is understood in broad perspective to bring about mental tranquility which leads to concentration of the mind.
It is the traditional belief that Buddhism is a pessimistic religion and difficult to practice. But when one understands the true Dhamma can discover its value as a beautiful way of live.
Poya Day programme is held every month throughout the year. Reciting is a way to keep mind at ease and tranquil. Dhamma is preached and taught as an art of Living. Yoga is practiced to keep Body and mind alive which helps to live at present.
This program is held from 6.30 am till 8.30 pm. All the participants are provided with food and drinks and other such requirements. If the participants can their come along with the paraphernalia (a plate, a cup and so on) it would be a bit more helpful for organizers in managing and arranging the activities. Even if you don't observe sil, you can participate in the program either in the morning session or the afternoon session. The Most Ven. Athuraliye Rathana thero is present throughout the day, delivering sermons and making preaching.
